Detailed Description
Public Consultation
Singapore Land Authority (SLA)
Public Consultation on Singapore Geospatial Competency Map
Consultation Period: 14th July to 10th August
Introduction
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) invites the public to provide feedback on the draft Singapore Geospatial Competency Map (SGCM). The completed SGCM be used in the design and development of geospatial higher learning content as well as the establishment of geospatial competency standards for geospatial professionals in Singapore. It also aims to provide a guideline for national organizations to achieve work-related competence in geospatial technology applications. This is part of SG-SPACE’s efforts in creating a well-trained geospatial workforce.
Contents found in the Draft SGCM
The Draft SGCM would be useful for Institutes of Higher Learning to design and develop geospatial learning content. It can also serve as a professional benchmark for geospatial industries in Singapore. Two main sections can be found in the Draft SGCM:
a. Geospatial Jobs Functional Area Table- An overview of the types of geospatial jobs functional areas across 3 general categories of experience and the typical job titles found in each category
b. Geospatial Competencies- geospatial skills and knowledge associated with different geospatial professionals in Singapore
Please note that the Draft SGCM does not include competency assessment methods and content. Its intent is to provide a list of competencies deemed necessary by the geospatial industry in Singapore. However, assessment content should be created with reference to the SGCM and the method of assessment should ensure that aforementioned content knowledge can be validated.
Also, we wish to highlight that the competencies of professionals who are involved in the development of satellites, survey related work, GNSS solutions, sales, marketing and support of geospatial products be developed in the next phase.
