1. Why are we moving from WhatsApp to Telegram?
We are moving to Telegram because it offers enhanced features that better suit our community's needs, including larger group capacities, better privacy controls, more comprehensive file sharing options, and robust digital integrations.
2. How do I set up a Telegram account?
Download the Telegram app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once installed, open the app, and sign up using your mobile phone number. Follow the prompts to set up your account.
3. Will our previous conversations be transferred to Telegram?
No, previous conversations on WhatsApp will not be transferred.
4. How do I join the community group on Telegram?
For existing users: If you have provided us your Telegram handle or phone number, you will be added by our REACH admins. If you have not been added yet, please text us on WhatsApp at 9710 5061.
5. Can I use Telegram on multiple devices?
Yes, Telegram allows you to use the same account on multiple devices simultaneously, including your smartphone, tablet, and computer.
6. What happens to our WhatsApp group?
The WhatsApp group will remain dormant for a brief transitional period to ensure everyone moves smoothly to Telegram. After this period, the WhatsApp group will be archived.
7. Is Telegram secure?
Yes, Telegram is known for its strong security features. It offers end-to-end encryption for voice and video calls, as well as for 'secret' chats. However, regular chats use client-server/server-client encryption and are stored securely on Telegram’s servers.
8. Will all the group features we used on WhatsApp be available on Telegram?
Most of the features will be available, and you will also gain access to new features such as polls, quizzes, larger group chats, and channels for broadcasting messages.
9. What should I do if I witness inappropriate or suspicious activity in the group?
Please report any inappropriate or suspicious activity immediately to REACH administrators. It is crucial to maintain a secure and respectful environment where all members feel safe.
10. Can I invite other people to join the group on Telegram?
New users will have to register to join the chats on REACH’s website.
11. Will the feedback I give through the REACH groups be forwarded to other government departments?
Your feedback will be shared with the relevant ministries and agencies.
