White Paper on Singapore Women's Development

The White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development reflects our shared vision towards a fairer and more inclusive society, where men and women partner each other as equals, and both can pursue their aspirations freely and to the fullest.

In 2021, the Government completed a year-long, nationwide Conversations on Singapore Women’s Development that engaged nearly 6000 participants over 160 conversations. The Conversations took stock of our current efforts to empower, uplift and support women and gave voice to our collective aspirations for Singapore women. Feedback and ideas from the Conversations contributed to the White Paper, which has 25 collective action plans by the Government and community.

Conversations on Singapore Women's Development

Overview

Singapore women have made tremendous progress over the years with the support of the community and Government. However, more can be done collectively to empower, protect and uplift our women.

That is why the Government, together with community partners, launched the “Conversations on Singapore Women’s Development” on 20 September 2020.

The Conversations were part of a broader Government effort to engage a wide range of Singaporeans, understand their aspirations for Singapore women and mindset changes required for the further advancement of Singapore women.

In September 2021, the year-long, national-wide Conversations was completed. 160 Conversations were organised, involving nearly 6,000 participants (citizens and PRs), from all walks of life, including youths, working mothers, homemakers, women leaders and men. The closing session of the Conversations took place on 18 September 2021.

Thank you for your support and participation in the Conversations.

The Government is studying the feedback and recommendations, which will be consolidated into a White Paper that will be submitted to Parliament soon.

SG Women’s contributions are integral to our Singapore Story.

From our nation’s early years, the progress and contributions of our women have shaped our homes, schools, workplaces and communities – bettering every aspect of our society.
